Does anyone have any experience of receiving an email/notification saying you've won, and then a few days later recieving reply saying that a mistake was made and you haven't won anything?

what can you do if anything?

I remember when the email went out to everyone that a significant amount of perfume was won. But instead of sending the email to the winner they sent it to all the entrants.

Nothing you can really do, you can send an email to say that you were really disappointed and in their good will they may do something about it. But usually their terms and conditions usually cover them.
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

    Ninth Anniversary
Quite a few years ago I had an email from primary times saying I had won one of their competitions, I replied to say thank you for letting me know and I was looking forward to receiving my prize, to which I then received another email from them saying I wasn't the winner, they made a mistake by emailing me, and they were sorry for the confusion! I can't remember what the prize was now but I do remember thinking that I couldn't understand how they had emailed me but I wasn't the winner, I eventually got over it though ;)

Going back a few years, Boots emailed loads of people to say they had won a trip to Barcelona.

    See this thread.

What was the prize you WON but didnt
  • Sadly lots of people have received winning emails from Cadburys saying they've won a white creme egg. Cadburys says it was a mistake, so no egg which for the sake of a 63p chocolate is really sad and I think they should honour it.
Personally I just want to try one!

So, did you get one from Pizza Express today because I got one, then recalled, then sent out again
  • I was one of those that got that Boots holiday winning email in 2012!

was gutted when a few hours later found out it was a mistake, they gave us some boots points in the end but that was all!!
Luck affects everything; let your hook always be cast; in the stream where you least expect it, there will be a fish
  • I remember the perfume/aftershave bundle, which everyone who entered got a WEM. After wards they sent a 10% off code to everyone as a sorry we messed up.

I also got a WEM from a Clicks to Win, a prize was a decent biking jacket. When i queried where my prize was after a month. I got a email saying i'd didn't win and it was a mistake.
