Using Referrals to get more business

Options
Hi

I wanted to check the legality/morality of using the offer of referrals to get more business. I was planning a leaflet drop offering people a referral fee for any clients they refer to my company who spent over a certain amount.

So if I was say a printing company (I’m not), and I said on the leaflet, I will give a referral fee to anyone who puts a client our way who spends over £500, is that okay? I’m sure legally it is fine (as long as they pay tax on the fee (that’s up to them though if they choose not too and risk the tax man). Morally it seems okay? Thanks!
I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.
