Help!

I submitted a return for 15/16 & 16/17 and owed some money due to to not realising child benefit amounts. I had stopped working at this stage and had no means to repay the amount due. Over the phone I told of my situation and after a few details passed was allocated an in year rebate 17/18 to cover most of what was owed. I have now repaid the rest and now no longer tick any of the requirements of self assessment. When I spoke to them recently the person I spoke to said they hadn’t received a submission from me for 17/18.
Do I need to submit a claim as I didn’t fit the requirements that I have to submit, or as I had a rebate for 17/18 I do?

Sorry but quite confused as you can probably tell :D

log into your online Govt account and see what it says
    DO IT NOW
you may have ignored the notice to file that would have been sent via snail mail back in May 2017, or you may genuinely have been removed from SA and so not been sent one.
The only way to be sure is to look at your own account....
  • If you have access to HMRC Online (Personal Tax Account). If not, call HMRC on 0300 200 3310. Either should confirm if they are expecting a tax return.

If they are, you have been issued a Notice to File.

You can either submit your return, or ask HMRC to remove the filing requirement by telephone. They will sometimes do this if your circumstances are simple.

If they refuse to, and a record exists for 2017/18, you should file to avoid a penalty.
