Buying Foreign Shares

Options
Hi,

I am interested in buying Apple or Amazon shares. Could I please have suggestions of Dealing Account/ SIPP Account that keep your money in dollars and not convert every time you buy or sell?

I have found charles schwab which does keep the money in dollars. AjBells, HL with convert everytime. Any more suggestions please?

Charles Schwab is an international brokerage house. Hence their ability to trade shares such as Apple. Apple has no London market listing.

AjBells, HL, X-O etc will trade through them or a similar broking house.

Through the London Stock Exchange you can find other alternatives.

I used to have an account with Charles Schwab when I had some US shares. They were perfectly fine but the quantity of bureaucratic forms that Uncle Sam required them to throw out and me to complete were one of the factors that led me to stop investing in US shares.

I use Fineco Bank for buying euro shares in euros, you get a parallel $-£-Euro-CHF bank account with a debit card in one currency ( I use Euro). You can switch between currencies on demand.

You can switch between the currencies in the account and deal on the various stock exchanges in their native currency ( I buy Euro denominated ETFs in Euros, dividends in Euros) straight through from the app or the web interface.

Its a Fintech startup (app works well on the phone) but is linked to Fineco bank which is a real Italian bank. There has been some discussion on MSE about the account - worth doing a search.

Does what it says for me - although I have not tried buying US shares in dollars so you may need to follow up with an email if you decide to explore further with them.

Just to mention I have seen some special offers for reduced dealing costs for them before opening so also may be worth a search.

Interactive investor do this. You have Pound dollar (and euro if you want) sections within your account and trade within each if those separately.

I’ve got shares grant from a US company I work for and they opened me an account on E-Trade. All in dollars. I am not at my first vesting period yet, but people who have grants for longer time suggested using TransferWise service to get money from their sold shares.
