Anyone work for Aviva in this dept?
I’ve no previous telephone based experience but I saw an advert and the starting wage is ok and it appears to have career prospects and perks.
Just wondering if anyone could tell me more about the role and if it would suit a “newbie”
Thanks

I haven't worked there, but have call center experience..
I would imagine that they'd give you full training and continuously train you up in regular reviews/meetings. So, initially at least, they wouldn't care about you being a "newbie". About 3-6 months in, though, you'd expect to be hitting their targets etc.
It isn't the worst company to work for (I've worked in some right cr*p holes!), but there may be elements of the following:
- Targets (can occasionally get stressful in certain roles)
- Distressing phone calls (I'd suspect that you'd handle a smallish amount of queries relating to a recently deceased/terminally ill pension/insurance holder which, over time, does grind on the soul a bit; BUT I don't know what the nature of your work would be so my point there may be moot)
- There isn't always "progression", at least not in the short term... Sometimes about whether your face fits etc. I've seen first hand people get promoted within 3 months yet it took me, someone COMPETENT in comparison, 3 years! I would caution anyone entering a call center to not expect much and take any progression as a bonus.
Aside from that, go for it! I've thrown you 3 negatives above but in truth every job has negatives and sometimes it is good to have a change in direction.0
