    Haha, maybe on this forum yes... But people I am talking to in real life are mainly in disagreement with me. My point is that I want to pay it off while I can, as noone can guarantee I have the same job and income later. At least I will have a house to live in.

    No. In real life most prefer the peace of mind of being mortgage free. Or choose to spend it instead. Very few sit down & do the maths

    Sensible approach. Few people can tell what the long term future holds for them with any certainty. Better to focus on matters over which you have control. Rather than speculate and be one of the unfortunate losers.
  • A quick wee update to original post.
    Now set up a 2 year fixed rate deal at a good rate with £100 cashback from Nationwide.
    All done and dusted, sorted.
