Can I claim any tax back?

Hello

I’ve had to buy a car for work purposes as I have to go to various customer sites as part of my role. The company I work for pays me a car allowance and I wondered if I could claim any tax back on the monthly repayment cost? I’m paying tax at source as the allowance is paid in with my salary and my car payments also have VAT on/included and I wondered if I could claim any of that back due to using the vehicle for work purposes other than commuting to an office.

Cheers.

You can claim HMRC's official mileage rates (45p/25p) on the business mileage you do for your employer, but remember you can't claim "commuting" mileage.

Thanks, yes I’m aware of the mileage claim and the element for running cost like MOTs etc but I’m wondering about the actual monthly repayments.

    no, of course you cannot

As an employee you have no choice but to use HMRCs official mileage rates. They are designed to cover ALL costs, so no, you can't claim monthly repayments etc.
