Attachment of earnings - suspended order

Hi all,

I received a letter this morning telling me to fill in an attachment of earnings order for a CCJ I wasn't aware of. I was aware of the debt but stupidly had been ignoring letters about it.

The debt is for just over £1,000 and I fully intent to now start repaying it back. I have two questions

1. What would be an acceptable amount to pay back? I was thinking around £100 per month, as this would be just about affordable to me on my current wages.

2. How likely am I to have my request for the order to be suspended granted? I'm concerned about the embarrassment that my employers finding out about the CCJ would cause, and part of my job involves me working with public money so I am concerned it could jeopardise my employment. Would this be a good enough reason to have the order suspended?

Thank you, and any other advice you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.

If the debt is owed I doubt they will agree to suspend it. They will likely argue that you had the time to deal with it and did not.If you can pay it all back within a month of the CCJ being issued I believe it can be removed.

If you can justify £100 per month on your figures that should be accepted as 10 months is a reasonable period. Suspended orders should be accepted because if you fail to make a payment the attachment kicks in.
