Land Regisry Charge

I am in the process of moving house, my solicitor notified me that Firstplus had a Charge on my property which is causing delays with the process. My issue is that the debt was paid off in 2003 and the charge should’ve been removed but it wasn’t. Finally after numerous phone calls trying to locate the correct company (Firstplus were no longer trading at the address where I originally applied for it), I have managed to get the charge removed. My question is, what compensation should be paid if any due to the stress and delay of the process because of the Charge wrongly held at the Land Registry? Would this of had an impact on my credit rating since 2003
