Advice please

My son was offered a mortgage in principal by Santander.... After he had found one to purchase, they said they were now going to cease with the offer. They said they had found something negative in his credit records !All since been checked & nothing adverse showing on main 3 credit companies. What can he do? Advice PLEASE

An AIP isn't the same as a full mortgage offer.

To get the AIP your son would have had to talk about his income and financial background. To get the offer he would have had to prove his income, and the bank would have done a full search on him.

They just don't fancy him as a risk, but unless he can get the underwriter to say exactly what the problem is (which is unlikely), all he can do is apply to someone else, or better go to a broker.
