Coming off the mortgage

My husband and Inneed to remortgage and borrow a bit extra for home improvements. Our current mortgage is in both names but as my partner is CIS we are restricted with the lenders available. We are using a broker and he has called today to say that as my credit score isn’t great it will only be accepted by taking my name of the mortgage, and that we could remortgage in a couple of years and add me back on. So my question is is this allowed and is it really that easy to go back on 2 years down the line (credit score allowing)? Thanks
