    My husband had to give up work before the end of the next academic year for the same reason,as your wife in that his pension would go down, as he took a much less stressful job (also less well paid) in the last few years.

    This isnt strictly true. Your OH took a less stressful lower paidd role. The OPs OH orked part time (at I assumee the same rate of pay). So theiir penbsio will be worked out at the same role's full time pay, and with the number of years credite lower as they are reduced for part time workers.

    So perhaps it isnt the case that they should end paying into the pension now They need to speak to TPAS and the TPS
