I did log on, but I didn't complete the survey as I found there were just too many questions and answer options to have to wade through,

    Sorry.

And pogofish I don't know who you are or what you're talking about. I haven't 'clearly agreed' anything with yourself. Your thread history is just highlighting SPAM rather than anything meaningful. If you don't want to help that's fine there's no need to be obnoxious.

You did agree the following with MSE though:
If you're a Forumite and want to post a survey on our Forum, eg a student looking for help with your studies you can post it, once only, on our Surveys board.

Now you did clearly confirm that you had read and understood this - you simply would not be posting otherwise.

And as for your institution's policy - that may vary a bit but I've not seen one in the UK yet that would accept any data gathered from postings made against the rules/T&Cs of any social media platform, board or forum. Its normally considered a serious breach of integrity.

If you read the small print in full prior to ticking 'I agree' on every single website you register on you're in a tiny minority.

Personally I don't think there should be s stand alone surveys forum anyway (technically a sub-forum which is somewhat illogically buried in the referrers forum), far more sensible to have them in the areas of the board devoted to the subject matter, so a transport survey would be in the motoring forum, rental survey in the housing forum etc.

Since there is no obvious forum which the issue of drug addiction would fit into, discussion time or MSA are the two most logical options.

Its not a matter of what you or I agree, is it..?

And highlighting an issue that has the potential to quite seriously affect a student's degree is another matter again.
If a supervisor does their job properly and checks sources and method properly, then the OP could be looking at some rapid re-writing, or possibly even having to delay and re-submit the whole dissertation again.

To be perfectly honest pogofish I didn't read that properly when I signed up to the forum a year ago. I never meant any malice in posting on here I was just aiming to get some responses for the questionnaire however you have made me feel extremely uncomfortable as if I have tried to deceive people or bend the rules and that was never my intention.

I will do what I can to get my posts removed as I would not like to potentially jeopardise the research.

Yes it is, which is why I didn't pass comment on that one way or the other.

My issue is with your usual snotty response to someone committing the heinous offence of posting in the incorrect forum, and yes I know I do the same on occasions but I don't do it ad-nauseum and only do so when it is blatantly obvious (without reading the small print of the forum T&Cs) a thread is in the wrong location, such as a recent request posted in the housing forum for advice on playing the foreign exchange markets.

Its always wise to read the small print IME.

I'm not assuming any malice at all!

Board guides are listed at the bottom of every forum main page IIRC - Its pretty simple to PM one of them to get this moved to where it won't raise any quality/integrity issues.

    Good luck..! :)

IME, In a great many cases, posting in the wrong forum fails to get the poster the sort of help they seek - or it greatly impacts on the quality of advice/discussion that stems from it.

Which does nobody any good at all.

I've messaged the board guide so hopefully it'll be removed soon.

Thanks to everyone that completed it and to those that recommended changes.

You got a free lecture out of it:rotfl::rotfl:

I had a query about referencing sometime back but, after having seen the type of responses you can get on here, I decided against it!
