Success stories of mortgage application with bad credit!

Has anyone here been accepted for a single mortgage even though someone they're financially linked to has bad credit? We've applied for a mortgage with NatWest in my husband's name as I have outstanding debt (about 2000) and we are waiting for a letter and I'm just in a constant state of anxiety about It! We are first time buyers and I'm so nervous that we won't ever get on the ladder. It would be nice to hear some success stories for me to cling onto until we get our letter!
