    Never too late to start.

To begin with, before you learn about investing you could choose an eay to open online platform and buy a multiasset find (such as say the Vanguard series) or a global tracker. Your money can build up there slowly while you research investing. Once you have banked about 20K (easy enough to do with your 450 plus tax releif of 112 each month) you could look to employing an IFA.

    So get moving.

Why do you think you will need a pension apart from state pension ?
How much do you think you will need ?
Then you can roughly guess what you need to put into to get what you want.
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

20 k is way too little to be cost effective to employ IFA as well I think.

For me it is the minimum, so wouldnt use one to set it up now if going the passive route.

They can always keep going, raising the amount put in as income grows.
