Non LED bulbs

I have dimmer switches on the lights. I need new candle bulbs for the fitting but the supermarkets only have LED ones, which I think aren’t meant to be used in conjunction with dimmer switches.

Any idea wher I can get plain old fashioned candle bulbs?

You can get LED bulbs that are dimmable, just check the box, same as you would do for any bulb.

Though you might need a new dimemr switch as trailing edge is pretty much required for LED and you may have a leading edge dimmer (was much cheaper to make leading edge back in the day so was more common). LED's can work with leading edge but you will need a specific bulb not just a dimmable one (if one even exists!).

They're also hideously expensive in comparison to ordinary LED lightbulbs, when you can find dimmable ones. Our dining room light is dmimable, and if I put an ordinary lightbulb in it, it flickers. Shove a dimmable one in, no flickering. Very expensive, but at least it doesn't go very often. I found some in our excellent local ironmongers/kitchen shop. Supermarkets don't seem to stock them.
    Better is good enough.

None of the LED bulbs on sale in my local supermarkets are marked as dimmable.

Screwfix sell dimable candle led bulbs at a good price, I think Argos carry them too - we got ours from Screwfix.

I'm pretty sure ours came from Tesco.

Dimmable LED bulbs are about twice the price of non-dimmable LED bulbs. Note they look exactly like the non-dimmable bulbs, and the packaging is often not much different so easy to pick up the wrong one. I did it once where someone had put a dimmable bulb under the non-dimmable bulb price tag and got a surprise at the check-out.
