Wescot Debt Collection from paypal.

Ok so this is a rather complex scenario but i will do my best to explain, please can anyone advise what todo?
Ok so i am a taxi driver. Around September last year i had a fare which was around £35 which the guy was supposed to be paying on debit card (i have a paypal account and card reader). Once we arrived and the card was attempted, the card was declined and the guy basically got out, got aggressive, offered no alternative form of payment, and did a runner.
I reported this to the police, have a police reference number still for the case. Anyway a couple of days later i was contacted by the person asking if i can go around to take the payment from him. When i turned up i told him i wanted double the fare price and another £20 extra on top for the inconvenience of not being paid. the guy agreed and paid me £90.
I thought the person contacted me because he had been contacted by the police. It turns out this wasnt the case, the police rung me up the day after asking for more information, i told them the case had been resolved and it can be closed. So they did. I thought this was over.
OK so here is where it becomes about paypal. This guy, around a month later, decides to claim his card has been stolen. And he was the payments i received through paypal refunded. I straight away went to £90 negative funds. I contacted paypal and explained to them the situation and i was told they would do all they can to sort the issue out.
A week or so later i checked again and my debt was over £100, 109 to be exact. I contacted paypal and was told i had lost the case, and because i had taken the payment via a terminal (card machine) i had no insurance when it came to charge backs and i owe money.
The guy was very rude, kept saying remarks like "businesses have money put asisde to cover charge back situations like this".
Anyway they kept mithering me asking for repayment which i refused.
Now i am being contacted (by phone and post) by Wescot on behalf of paypal for £125 (i dunno why 125)
My question is should i stick to y guns and ignore this? or will it make it worse? should i bite the bullet and pay up.
I have done a bit of research and it seems some people say pay and others say ignore it, they have no powers.
Help!?!

Is there not a law that says the fare cants be greater than that which is shown on the taximeter? Seems your petty greed has just made the situation worse for yourself.

PayPal will not go to court, but, if, they ever did, then you have a defence, which would have a reasonable chance of success.
Wescot are a hired mouthpiece with no power whatsoever.
I`d ignore them, if they ever went to court, then you would defend the claim.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You will have to pay
No this is not the case what so ever.
The fare was £35, for starters the guy did not pay.
When i have returned for the payment, i have agreed with the person that i will accept the fare of £35, then there was a separate payment for the rest for the inconvenience. This is just like someone 'tipping' . If the person did not agree, i told him i would of been back in contact with the police as i was not happy with the fact i had to make a trip to him without any compensation.
At the time he was more than happy to pay it.
I also forgot to say that every conversation with the person in question has been filmed on my on-board cctv.
There is also the query that he used a stolen credit card himself. But again the responsibility for this should not lie with me.0
