Rail Travel Vouchers - advice needed

HI apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place but wondered if anyone had any ideas of how i can convert rail travel vouchers into cash.
I was delayed with South West trains a while ago and sent a delay repay postal form in as I had missed the deadline to do it electronically. As it was via post they would not pay by BACS and they do not issue cheques so they sent me an £80 rail travel voucher. The problem being I am now on maternity leave and not doing much rail travel. I have complained to South West trains and even contacted passenger focus to see if I could receive the compensation in monetary form but the answer was a firm no. THey have offered to reduce the denomination of the voucher and reissue in smaller amounts which is better than nothing although I would still prefer the cash.
Do I admit defeat and just ask for smaller amounts or is there another way I havent thought of?
Thanks
Fay

You could try complaining via the new Rail Ombudsman service.
Or see if any friends have train trips coming up...0 -
