Old Workplace Pension

New to the forum but any advise would be appreciated.
I had a work place pension with Co-op Insurance from 1974-1978. When I left i received a refund of my contributions, does this mean any money paid into the pension by the employer is lost. At the moment Royal London have no trace of me on their system, although I have now written to them. The only paperwork have is the letter from them concerning my refund of contributions.

Thanks

Yes. A refund of your personal contributions (which may well have been compulsory at that time, given less than 5 years service) will have extinguished all liability from the scheme.

To be honest, not having a record for a no liability ex-member from 40 years will be pretty par for the course.

    You could try

I worked for 1 year with a company 1973-4, can't remember if I got a refund of contributions, but did end up with a very small policy that went from company to company and was eventually valued at £100. GMP began in April '78, so if you were still working & the scheme was contracted out then, there could have been a small something.
