A simple stakeholder is available

Or personal pension choosing Vanguard might suit?

Yes. It would be a stunningly bad idea.confusedfreelancer wrote: »Background: 31, self employed (sole trader), income usually around £20-30k. £135k cash savings.
I want to start a pension to take advantage of not having to pay tax on the money I put into one. However I'd rather not have to deal with investing. Can I keep my pension in cash? Where will allow me to do that?
Really really awful.
Use one general fund and put it in that. Here's one almost at random, Vanguard Lifestrategy 60. Just use that. Thats it, your investment decisions are done and dusted.
Not the absolute best but better by several zillion percent than putting it in cash where you literally might as well pile your money up in the street and burn half of it. Literally. That would avoid the tedious form filling involved with opening a pension.
Your cash savings, by the way are decreasing by 1-2% every year real terms. In 30 years, you'll have lost about half their value. Sixty.Thousand.Pounds.Gone. You could trickle feed some of that into a pension.0
