Hello
this is my first post here but I’ve been reading people’s diaries for a while, and have been really inspired and think this is a great way to keep myself accountable.
I graduated in 2017 and safe to say I definitely enjoyed my student overdraft a little too much and now have a £2000 overdraft to contend with. It is currently interest free until 2020.
Current debt:
£2000 overdraft
£631 credit card
My credit card gets paid off monthly as it is a charge card. This month I spent more than I should have due to the sales.
I earn a decent wage and want to be able to save for my first house without having this overdraft hanging over me.
My aims are to:
-Pay off my credit card at the end of this month and from then on only use it in emergencies, reducing my debt to £2000
-Pay off overdraft by the end of October, on Halloween due to when payday comes
-Following buying Christmas presents in November, I aim to start saving from December onwards
I’ve made a budget and this is all achievable if I stick to it. The reason why I chose October and not sooner is because of other commitments i’ve got such as driving lessons and a holiday (not financially sensible I know but already paid off the majority of this).
I’m going to update this diary each month with how much I’ve paid towards my credit card / overdraft and I really really hope I can post here on 31st October 2019 that I am student overdraft free!
Can’t wait to follow everyone else’s diaries too :j
