26 - GCSE’s

Hi,
I’ve recently been trying to enrol on to a paint technician/panel beating apprenticeship. However, the problem I’m facing is that the entry requirements for all are a minimum of 3 GCSEs which I do not have (terrible I know but I didn’t have the best experience of school due to my life at home and i ended up moving out and leaving home around the time my exams began).
I am wanting to study & resit the GCSEs but I’m unsure what would be the best route to take. Should I enrol at my local college and do it through them or do distance learning and just sit the exams? I can do either and willing to fund it to get these qualifications but not sure what is the quickest and best way to do so.
Any help would be appreciated - thank you.

just a sort of side note but usually the GCSE requirements are for those fresh out of school. You MAY be able to get on a course with merely good previous work experience in a related area. Maybe even along with an on-the-job course if they exist. Worth asking potentially...0

Do you feel you have the skills and knowledge and just need the fastest way to a piece of paper demonstrating this, or do you feel you will need to study? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Dunno the answers to your questions but I agree with Les, give it a go anyway. You never know.
Even if you don't get on it this time the fact you've applied shows that you're keen when you apply in future.

Often a case of 'computer says no' if their application process is online too. I recently discovered I'd not been shortlisted for a post because I'd not included GCSE English (they didn't ask) in my list of qualifications - I got an A, somehow, but hadn't listed it as was irrelevant given I've several degrees and A levels since.
I'd recommend in person tuition, either via college or a tutor, probably college better so that there's peer support from others in a similar position. Daft things such as wording of questions and expected wording of answers - which can be marked wrong if you over think them or have additional knowledge
Good luck!0
