Mortgage protection insurance

Options
Hi everyone. This is my first time using this forum. So please forgive me if I don't get it right.
I've seen a lot of adds lately about mortgage protection insurance that has been miss sold. Has anyone tried to make such a claim and if so how difficult was it to do. Companies keep contacting me and saying they will search for me but I'm worried I could end up owing money out for nothing. They always have hidden agendas and fees don't they
Thank you in advance
Dawn

MPPI complaints have a low uphold rate, as it's normally a good idea.

Why do you believe yours was mis sold?

Mortgage protection insurance is a vague term that can cover a number of different mortgage insurances.

What mortgage protection are you referring to?
Why do you think yours was missold?

What do you mean by mortgage protection insurance?

Why do you think it would be missold? For example, many life assurance plans attached to a mortgage are called "mortgage protection insurance". yet people dont go complaining about those (apart from daft people who think its PPI and then get a rejection).

What insurances have you had or currently have?

  • Hi, I may well be one of those 'daft people' as I'm trying to claim for a mis-sold Life Insurance, I believe it's not classed as a PPI however I was definitely mis-sold it.
I'm a single guy and if I die I don't care about keeping up my mortgage payments as I've no dependants living with me.
Can I stop OR reclaim these payments?
  • Yes, you can stop them. But cancel the policy first.

You can complain about it but if it's a bolt on for critical illness, you're probably not going to he be successful or if it was sold by a broker as part of his 'fee'

PPI is a product type. So, making a PPI complaint about a product about a product that is not PPI is where it is daft.

It is normal to add in life assurance on a critical illness cover policy. Often there is no cost difference (particularly those under 30 at taking it out) or a very minimal cost at best. Usually pennies.
Can I stop OR reclaim these payments?

You can stop your policy whenever you like. However, nothing you have said so far indicates any wrongdoing.
