To hand in notice?

Hi All,
So, I am in a job since last August that I dont particuarly like for many reasons - the overall atmosphere is quite bad (people eating lunch in cars etc), manager a so and so, location is terrible and generaly cant see any long term prospects.
I am still in my probation which is not going well and have been called to a formal meeting later this week, the letter says the outcome maybe dismaissal.
I have been doing interviews in the side and a company today have offered a role (after a few tele calls and a f2f) with much better outcome also another company want to see me for a 2nd interview next week.
Should I hand in my notice tomorrow? (its 1 month notice but would be surprised if i was asked to work my notice period so they probably will pay me a month in lieu) In my resignation letter should i mention the job o fer or just say the present job is not fully aligned with my career expectations.?
I think i should just cut it short and sweet and not mention anything about a new role, my manager has been overly agressive and a general !!!!!!! anyway.
thoughts?

ll you need to say is that you are giving your notice and that your final day will be xxx.
There is no need to give a reason.
Assume that you will work your notice unless they tell you otherwise. If you have accrued more holiday than you've taken you may be required to take it during your notice period. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
noted - 2 line resignation done.
short and sweet, time to move along0 -
my bigger issue is not wanting to include this role in linkedln, my previous job was 4 1/2 years so will be a gap now to deal with0

Yes everything works out in the end. (Very, very surprisingly and unbelievable whether I have Brexit and uncertain times ahead to thank, I'm on track to pass probation but my Manager still makes it easy for me to go to interviews. (I don't like the job)(though our place you cannot go for an internal job having not past probation)
I never write a reason in my letter. Haven't for many years, they are hard enough to write at best of times. Having come across people who did end up with probation extended because they complained that the job was stressful and not what they thought etc etc has taught me to be careful what get's said. If I can go the day not talking then I tend to do that it really is just easier.
I use to think resorting to lunch in car when it wasn't the best weather to sit outdoors was bad but going to the only break that is a half hour lunch with people who wind you up is just as debilitating. It would be bliss to walk around the workplace grounds on my own but it's not allowed.
6 months is a good innings.0 -
eating lunch in car is demoralising, my last job i had great banter with some guys about football, movies, travel etc and in this place its depressing. The commute also is bad (up to an hour and a half home some days) also my manager has been a d**k with regurlar outbursts and swearing at me (in private!). Some annoying people at work also like the guy behind me always talking, laughing and generally annoying - think of the type who constantly natter and thrown keys around, slam drawers, etc. I work in Engineering and people like this do not aid a productive day in the office.0

How long is(was) it?
Temp fixed term contract can fill a gap, just needs the back story to why the previous job was given up.0 -

In my resignation letter should i mention the job o fer - if you want to be forced to work your notice, sure or just say the present job is not fully aligned with my career expectations.?
I think i should just cut it short and sweet and not mention anything about a new role, my manager has been overly agressive and a general !!!!!!! anyway.

If you're confident about the new job, go for it.0 -

Delete your account or don't tell anyone you have one. It may be news to you but you do not have to be on LinkedIn, your life will not end because of it, you'll still be able to find plenty of work without being on it. Lots of people who do have LinkedIn accounts don't update them, I opened one a while ago out of morbid interest more to find people I knew and haven't updated it for ages and there's at least two jobs I've done since. Do I care? Not a jot. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

This job, the one I am leaving just 5 months now, I knew it was not right from ages back hence not updating Linkdln which still says I am in the role before that...!0 -
Question guys - my notice is done but what is killing me is my notice period, I dont really want to work there anymore and the traffic is horrendous (one of the reasons i am leaving) - 2.5 hours in the car each day for nothing, can I leave this job sooner without doing all the notice period?
Think i would have been better off to have got fired, then I would have been paid a month without needing to attend?0
