I earn extra money from home, answering online opinion polls and surveys. Between £50-£100/month, dependent on how diligent I am :)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

Niknac have a look at Scott Weiland's thread on the diary board - he's the master of surveys on here and will tip you off to the best ones to try. Also remember anything you buy online, see if you can go through TCB or Quidco for a bit of cashback - if you're not already doing this there is a guide on the main site if I remember rightly.

Also a gentle reminder to others on the thread - this is posted by the OP who wants help with a problem. It's not our place to judge, to shout at each other on her thread, or to take the moral high ground, no matter how those things are being done. It's incredibly easy to frighten off newbies on here and we need to be really careful that we don't manage to do that. As for saying "never, ever" I've been here long enough to have seen enough stories that will tell you that one quirk of fate can turn "never, ever" into "Oh dear, what now" - I'd always urge caution with that standpoint. ;)

In the first instant the effort would be better spent doing a SOA, keeping a spending diary, and reviewing where all the money went in 2018.

We are two weeks into 2019, not to late to fill out the spending diary for 2019 and see where you are so far.

it is a lot easier to find place to cut back once you know where it is going.
  • I'd take a look around your home and see what you don't use anymore and clothes your child has outgrown and list them on ebay. also put up your statement of affairs as well

Struggling to believe some of the responses on here.

Your solution is simple. Look at your last 6 months of bank statements and work out where you’re spending money.

Cut back by shopping at Aldi etc. Check your household bills. Are you out of contract on anything? Go through TopCashback and find cheaper. Then cut back non essential spending like coffees etc.

In the meantime transfer your overdraft and current credit card onto a balance transfer credit card. Preferably one with 24+ months of interest fee. You’ll need one that allows money to be transferred into a current account (to pay off your overdraft) (google it). Once you receive your credit card and have transferred your balance, cut up the card. Then set up a direct debit to repay at least £155 per month (£3700 divided by 24).

Then ensure you don’t overspend again. Sorted.
