If a dentist attempts , with all the good will in the world , a root treatment that is complex and it fails then they can be held liable as attempting a treatment beyond their competence. .
That's interesting. My brother recently went for a routine check-up and was told that he required a new filling in a back molar. He proceeded with the treatment and a couple of weeks later an abscess appeared. A root canal was performed by the same dentist, but failed. At the time of this treatment he was told that the roots of the molar were very long and that the canals were extremely narrow, making the proceedure complicated. I was therefore surprised that he hadn't been referred to a specialist in the first place. So a tooth that had never given a moment of concern (until after the new filling had been placed), was extracted. He's now 'on the hunt' for a new dentist0
