                    Help!!!!
OH went B/C on tuesday as far as i know our Bank account is active (joint account), i notified CHB about new Bank account(online) but it wasn't in time and the payment is showing on my old bank statement, is it okay to try and draw it out at an ATM (on my card)? or should we get permission from OR
I'm starting to panic and being a Saturday can't contact OR.
Thanks

I didn't do a letter of affirmation to the bank either as Fermi suggested on another thread on this subject because the CHB helpline led me to believe it would be straightforward and done in time but i didn't realise they release the funds 3 days early to the bank. Funds sent Wed, the day i emailed the new details via their site.
Its due to be paid on Monday and has 12th on my statement as payment going in, am i too late to do a letter? could drop it off to bank tonight and then phone OR on Monday?
Being O/D i am soooo worried the bank will claim the money towards that and its an essential part of the income coming in which we need.We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!0 -
Do you mean the funds are in the account now?
If they are, would it be a disaster if you tried to take them out and the machine swallows the card?
I doubt very much that you would be in any great trouble for trying to take out benefits that you require to live.
The OR should allow you to have the funds whatever but it could take a few days (although they will often fax the bank ASAP).Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

The funds are showing as going in on 12th (monday), i called CHB and she said it has been known because they release them on the wed before they are due to be paid on the monday that the funds are sometimes available on the Sat(hence it showing already and it has reduced our Overdraft figure by that amount).
I thought i may drop a "First Right of Appropriation" letter to bank over weekend so its there first thing Monday when they open and then call the OR, we will need it later in the week for a couple of weeks shopping and a particulary hefty week of the schools needing payment for various things.
OH thinks we should try and draw it out using my card as its payable to me, we can still access the account online so i'm assuming its not frozen but i would hate to get into trouble for doing that.We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!0 -
I see. I wasn't sure if it had gone in yet.
In that case, yes. The letter can't do any harm (although may be irrelevant if the OR instructs the bank to release the money).
You can talk to the OR first thing on Monday. At least if you then have to attempt to withdraw it they can't claim you haven't talked to them about it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well OH phoned OR this am , very helpful and letter hasn't gone off to bank yet so advised us we could try drawing it out which we did successfully.
In the meantime the Bank have called me about the letter of appropriation i dropped off to say they don't manage peoples money for them and its up to me so i just said ok
, didn't matter cos OH had just that minute walked in the door saying he had managed to draw the money out.:j
Another hurdle over. just as well cos my Co op pin has gone astray in post and having to wait a few more days for a new one so i wouldn't have been able to draw on the money if it had gone into my new account yet - worked out well really. We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!0 -
So glad you got that sorted out.

Obviously a member of staff too dim to grasp to the point of the letter, and the legal right that it invokes.:rolleyes:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
