Can I get the mortgage but put the house in someone elses name

Hi everyone.
My partners parents have their house (which is paid for) up for sale for £250,000, however the house they want to move into has come on the market for 130,000. Having recently sold my house and living in rented I have 70,000 I can get hold of. I would have to borrow 60,000.
My question is can I get a mortgage for the house but have my partners parents as the owners. Once they sell theirs, then they would simply give me the money to pay off the mortgage + cover any payments/expenses etc.

no, the mortgage company would require your name to be on the deeds.
you could of course have all three of you on the deeds however.
whether this makes financial sense compare to them getting a bridging loan is something to consider.
