Hi I had a tooth extraction in the 29th November 2018. A root snapped off and after some time of digging around my dentist couldn’t get it out and said he was causing more damage. My gum was in a state as he had also torn my gum across the front on the next tooth. It took until literally the new year to feel somewhere near back to normal. Last week I felt a weird sensation in my mouth and this week noticed swelling in the gum above the extraction, as this week has gone on it’s worse but with something sharp trying to break through the front of my gum. I am know having a dull tooth ache pain within the gum. I spoke to the dentist on Tuesday and they’ve managed to fit me in for Monday to look at it. It seems the broken bit of tooth/root is trying to force its way out. My question is...is this still covered under the fees I originally paid as on nhs online it states 2 calendar months but it was literally the end on November Barr one day. It’s was 5.5 weeks from extraction to me reporting it to my dentist. Where do I stand as I can’t afford to pay that amount again so soon and don’t see why I should when the extraction has left me with more work needing doing. Any advise please.

It is not uncommon for a dentist to be unable to get all the tooth out in one go. In which case normally they wait until the root comes closer to the surface when it is easier to take out.
Under the NHS you cannot be charged twice for taking the same tooth out.0 -
Thank you brook2jack I appreciate your quick response.
I’ve been worried about this the past day or so.
I can look forward to having this sorted hopefully on Monday now.0
