Yes absolutely, otherwise you could buy another pair today, throw the receipt and ask for the higher price back again.

    Totally legal.

What makes you think it isn't ?

Don't lose the receipt in future.

You bought at a price you were happy with.

Maybe sell the item on ebay and buy the same item but at the reduce price.

what is the store policy on returns ,assuming its not damaged or broken ?As for receipt ,you dont always need a receipt just proof of purchase ,bank statement ect .

  • Thanks it was bought in Nov for a present for a friend and it doesn't fit, which was why I was trying to change it. The shop is now at the end of their season sale which is why the item was further reduced. someone above said I may not always require a receipt just proof of purchase my bank statement would show I made a transaction in mid Nov in the shop but does it suffice to prove it was this item. I know I am out of time and without the receipt I am lucky to be offered anything but just wanted to check if what the shop is telling me is fair.
