What statements do I need?

I'm going to be applying for an AIP/mortgage in the next 2-3 weeks and I am trying to get all my paper work ready. I know most lenders want last 3 months of of bank statements, but do I need it for all my bank accounts and for my bank credit card too?

As it stands I have 2 main accounts, one of which is just for outgoing direct debits. I also have two savings accounts one of which is my help to buy ISA. Should I order 3 months of physical statements for them all? I also have a Nationwide credit card and as they offer cash back, I have for the past few years used this as my default payment card on Apple pay (which prob accounts for 99% of my transactions each month), therefore, If the purpose of the statements is for them to scrutinise my spending, do I need to also show 3 months of credit card statements too?

  • 3 months bank statements of your current account that your salary goes into is normally enough. In your case might be handy to have statements to hand for both of your “main” current accounts.

You will also need to tell your broker / lender what your credit card balances are, unlikely that they will ask for statements but worth having to hand in case.

Most lenders will accept internet banking statements as long as they show your name, address, sort code and account number.

Okay thanks, I'll do that. Credit card is now cleared anyway, it was always set to clear the balance each month anyway, but figured last month it was best to avoid using it for now.
  • You also need your credit card usage statement.
