    :j just an update.

    Had my letter from gmac this morning to say the 1 months interest fee will be cancelled from 30 days . Fab, really pleased with the outcome.

  • If that was me I would ditch that FA...surely he should have known something as basic as giving notice to your lender and as for not noticing some small print!

    or am I being harsh?

    Hi Raq,
    Financial advisors and mortgage advisors will receive a proc fee from the building society as a commission for introducing the business to them. Some (like yours) will also charge the client an additional fee.

    So my advice is easy: shop around until you find a mortgage advisor that
    1) deals with the whole of the mortgage market
    AND
    2) doesn't charge the client a fee:
    If you look hard enough you will find one. Don't feel that you are obliged to stay with your existing advisor simply because you've dealt with him for 12 years.
    I'm glad things worked out for you in the end.
