Electoral roll

Hi,
We are hoping to put an offer in our first home soon... on my Equifax credit report I have a red marker for the electoral roll... this is where we got married in September and I didn't update them. I updated this last week and have had confirmation from the council that it's all registered now, under my married name.
Just checked Equifax and it's still showing as red. My husband's is amber because we haven't lived at our current address that long. Is this likely to pose a problem if we were to apply for a mortgage in the next week or so? I'm not sure how long this will take to update with credit agencies...
Also, do I need to check my credit history for my maiden name too - or will the two have merged?
Thanks.

It can take a while to update... If you are a member of the MSE credit club I'm sure there's a section there where they detail the process. If I remember correctly the files are only updated at certain times of the year... I thought I'd timed mine well and it still took a little longer than I'd expected.0

Thanks Sibz… so will this drastically affect our chances of getting a mortgage? I do have a letter from the council stating that I am on the electoral roll if it helps?0

Hi, we had the same problem. Took ages to update, and even then didn’t update on all files. Some still show as not registered. We have just applied for a mortgage and are awaiting a mortgage offer. So far it hasn’t been a problem at all. Hope that helps.0

Have you been registered previously? Not just the current address matters.0

Some lenders it will be a deal breaker, others won’t care as long as they can find you through other means or you can supply proof of address.
Worth speaking to a Broker on this so they can do the leg work for you and find an appropriate lender.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
