My new prescription after my latest eye test.
In the section for distance right and left there are figures for sph, cyl, axis.
In the section for near it just says R/L + 1.75.
I was going to order a pair of reading glasses online which must come under near, but can't understand why the near section only has R/L + 1.75 as a figure.

Because that figure is added to the sph component of the distance prescription for reading glasses. The other components remain the same.
The online provider will have an on screen form where you fill in all the figures, just as they are on your prescription, plus a box to tick to say if they are for reading, distance or intermediate.
With the reading box ticked (in your case) the company will add that figure to your basic distance prescription so that you end up with reading glasses.
They will also automatically reduce the PD by a couple of mm, because your eyes both turn in slightly at close distances.0 -

I have just tried a online company as a dummy run and after sph cyl axis there is a box to add a figure like the R/L +1.75, if i wanted a pair for reading and a distance pair, would i add the R/L+1.75 for each prescription plus the same sph, cyl, axis for both prescriptions?0 -
If I was using the prescription for my first pair of distance glasses as advised by the optition, would I leave out adding the R/L+1.75 and only add this if they were for reading glasses0

I would not have to wear the distance glasses all the time I was told0

It doesn't matter.
If you tick the "distance" box they will be made without the reading addition. If you tick "reading" they will add the figure to the rest of the prescription.
So it is best to fill in all the details, just as they are on your prescription, then make clear whether you want reading or distance glasses.
Most online firms will let you send them a scan of the prescription and indeed some insist on it. If they don't insist you will have to "sign" (i.e tick an online box) to certify that you have a valid prescription, have entered it correctly, are an adult and not registered as blind.0 -
Ok thanks again.
I was just unsure if i should leave out the added +1.75 for distance glasses, but i will add it and fill in boxes just the same as the prescription details.0
