Hello all,
Long story short:
Took a house in my sole name and shared it with 2 friends and my partner at the time. Didn’t pay the energy bill, split up with girlfriend, the other two moved out, I moved out, £605 outstanding. I moved out about 5 years ago, possibly a bit longer.
I used to get frequent letters at my home address (can’t remember if someone coaxed this out of me by phone) then it went quiet and I’ve now had a ‘Pre-Legal Assesment’ letter. It’s easentially listing the process from here if I don’t pay up.
Last time I checked, a couple of years ago, this debt wasn’t on any credit report. Could this have subsequently been added and is it worth me checking? Or if it wasn’t opened up at the time it still won’t be?
I’m hoping to buy a house in the next 6 months and don’t need this, but I also can’t really afford to pay £605 today. Is it worth calling and offering a payment plan and if accepted I assume there isn’t any credit report implications as it’s not on there? (I think)

Hi,
Lowell will accept whatever payment plan you can realistically afford to offer, but before you write to them, was there ever a period of more than 12 months before the energy company wrote to you ?
If so, the back billing rules may apply (Google is your friend here).
