Badly Fitting Dentures

If you've never worn dentures before how do you know how they are supposed to feel?
They do move, there will be places where they don't feel as if they are fitting snug against the gums particularly in the early days as there is a little line at the back of the dentures that has to sink in to help provide a seal. They may very well never be a tight fit ,even after relining.
As to your gum disease , the problem , from looking at your treatment plan (TBI means tooth brush instruction) , is that although you may be cleaning your teeth often , you are not managing to clean effectively. Buy yourself some disclosing tablets from the chemist and use them after you have brushed your teeth. Then look in the mirror where plaque will be dyed bright blue or pink. It will be down where tooth touches gum and inbetween teeth. You can have multiple dentist visits but until you can clean effectively you are doomed to losing more teeth , which means bigger and more uncomfortable dentures. Lower dentures are even worse than top dentures.0 -

Thank you for your kind advice there, and I will certainly look at those disclosing tablets.
Regarding gum disease.
I was in fact referring to the odd incidence over my whole lifetime, and gum disease has not been mentioned by my Dentist since knowing him (4 years)
For further information I have all of my bottom teeth, and most of my top teeth, except 4.
Not bad for age 75.
So the dentures are to fill in 4, albeit well separated teeth.
Unfortunately two of them are right at the front, which makes it awkward when I do a big grin.
My upper lips are pretty full, so it is only noticeable with that grin or laugh, which I do a lot.
Apart from when I read the answers to my thread here of course!
Plus I am talking with that little lisp one gets with front teeth missing.
I had to laugh though.
We went to Benidorm last November, and we went to see a comedian called Albire.
My Missus and I were sitting on a front table, and he focused on me.
He said...
Heffinghell Mate.
The last time I saw teeth like yours, they were hanging around a Witch Doctors neck! :rotfl:
Well I gotta laugh now aint I?
It's either that.
or cry!.

OK Toothsmith, butting in here to ask- Tips for actually REMEMBERING to brush teeth? that's where i fall down. I have toothbrushes and toothpaste everywere and I still don't remember to do it,0

Put a timed reminder on your mobile phone. Or a post it note on your alarm clock. Have a wipe off white board that you tick for eachday when you've brushed.
An free excellent app called brush dj plays music for exactly 2 minutes to ensure you spend the right amount of time. https://apps.beta.nhs.uk/brush-dj/0 -
Boozecruiser looking at your treatment plan you are also having periodontal treatment for your gum disease. That alone is band 2 so your reline is effectively free, you would be paying band two without it anyway.0

Many if you hadn't made such a pain in the !!!!! of yourself 10 years ago about visiting a hygienist - but taken your dentist's advice and got on with cleaning your teeth properly - you would still be enjoying your own teeth now and not having to get on with a crappy bit of plastic that will never work like your own teeth did!
Wow, I can't believe a dentist is publicly gloating over something like this.
Unkind and unprofessional.0 -

With great respect of course.
Who said I am having treatment for gum disease?
I didn't.
Did I Brook2Jack?
Because I am not at this moment in time.
My only treatment is for this mess of a denture situation I am having, compouded by adding insult to injury by charging me £45 extra to try and put right some ill fitting dentures in the first place.
Anyway.
Even if you are correct, surely any periodental treatment comes inside band 3 as per below as part of my treatment plan?
Cheers.
NHS dental charges
There are 3 NHS charge bands:
Band 1
The current charge is £21.60 in England and £14.00 in Wales.
Treatment covers:- an examination, diagnosis and care to prevent problems
- if necessary, X-rays, scale and polish and planning for more treatment
The current charge is £59.10 in England and £45.00 in Wales.
Treatment covers:- all necessary treatment covered by band 1
- treatment such as fillings, root-canal treatments or extractions (having teeth taken out)
The current charge is £256.50 in England and £195.00 in Wales.
Treatment covers:- all necessary treatment covered by band 1 and 2
- more complicated procedures such as crowns, dentures or bridges

Thank you Dizzy.
No Dizzy I haven't.
And I would have thought having only recently having dentures fitted, I should not need that.

cam, HI, TBI, Reline Dentures, Periodontal Treatment .
Bold. I think on the form that is ticked as Relining rebasing and additions to dentures.
Kenny
Actually you have said you are having treatment for gum disease , periodontal treatment is treatment for gum disease and it is band two.0
