Hello all
Like many of the diary's I've read, I've floated around the forums for a while inspired by your stories and wanted to tell my own. Mainly to keep myself motivated and on track but also maybe a couple of you might find my story an inspiration in years to come.
A tiny bit about me.. I'm 30 and live with my partner. I have a little boy (4) but he doesn't live with me. I do see him all the time though. I bought my first house last April. It's a 180 k detached 3 bed. I was very fortunate to live with my folks and then my girlfriend who didn't charge much rent so I was able over several years to save up a 20 % deposit. So I've got a 5 year fixed deal at 2.21 %.
Currently Since last June I have overpaid the mortgage by £600 a month. It's a rolling direct debit. I'd like to be MF by 40 but if I can do it sooner then even better! This year has seen plenty of over time at my work so I've managed to amass nearly 20 grand in savings which I'm using as a safety blanket (people at work think this is silly as I'd never need a 20 k savings blanket but it makes my mind feel better and its an investment for the future).
My Mrs works as well and contributes to bills and food making this a lot easier than it would be. She also shares my dream to be mortgage free asap.
Short term I'd like to reach this 20 grand savings (which should only take a couple more months) and then start hammering at the mortgage. Anyway thank you for reading!
