I am taking your collective advice and, when I get a bit of peace and quiet, will make out an SOA and call the helplines suggested as I'm by no means certain that they won't go for bankruptcy. Which would ruin any hopes we had of being free, I deserve it alright, but my children don't and it's not as though there's any family we could stay with if it did come to the worst. If it was just us I don't think I'd really give too much of a stuff, but losing their only bit of security absolutely kills me.

Get one of the Debt Charities working WITH you - you don't deserve everything that's being thrown at you - nobody does.
I'm sure that with a bit of 'professional help' things will look better.

  • Thanks for all the support. It's actually quite cathartic to be able to type it all out and 'talk' about it instead of trying to carry on as normal, I'm just sorry I didn't know of these forums quite some time ago, perhaps I would've made better decisions if I did.

Unfortunately, I'm reasonably certain I changed my address with them over the phone. However, I'm also reasonably certain that I have a few receipts sent to me at this address for cheque payments that I made to them. Either way, I owe the money, but perhaps it'll buy me a stay of execution as it were. I'll look for them tomorrow, as I just don't really have the heart tonight, got a headache, depressed, and we've all got colds, so things ain't looking too rosy lol

I certainly will get in touch with a debt charity and see what we can work out. If I do get out of it, never as long as I live will I allow myself to get back into this situation with debts, debt collectors, banks, etc. Just soul destroying.

We're all with you on that, Sam. Best of luck - keep us posted.

  • Will do, thanks for the advice, just so hard to think straight sometimes. This site is invaluable.
