I like the 10% idea.mark55man said:so AlanP each week is 10% of your remaining working life, which is nice
annoy your co-workers by putting up a board (the week after next) with a 10 x 10 board and then tick one box every half day
As I am WFH there are no colleagues to see a countdown board.3 -
You could make your countdown board - your Teams background LOLAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I have decided I will start my vocational freedom end of April 2022. It would have been this year until I got a written quotation, rather than rely on a website, which gave me an extra 9.5% on my DB pension. I had to go one more year rather than leave a significant increase on the table. I might even defer my pension for another year as again another 9.5% increase is due.I plan to take a reduced annual pension such that when my SP is added in 4 years, will keep me just avoiding higher tax. This will give me a good TFLS.Mortgage free

Lifelong cyclist, so that will feature heavily, some long distance tours across France/Spain and maybe Italy starting from here in Wirral (on the other side of when the pandemic eases). I'm into amateur radio, I also like a bit of PC gaming and plan to do some overnight wild camping. I'm a hobby kind of person, I honestly doubt I'll get bored (55 years old). I've never been defined by my career, so no baggage to lose.savingholmes said:

Just over 2 weeks into retirement now. The weather has been kind and I now have the full on comedy cyclist tan! Been riding up to 300 miles per week, but I'm demob happy and that kind of mileage though sustainable, gets in the way of other stuff.
I'm doing some volunteering at a nearby listed building, reading and doing some simple DIY. I haven't fallen in to the habit of enjoying lunchtime pints, but I do like a bacon butty and a coffee at the local isolated cafe on days I'm not riding.
As we head into winter later in the year I'll get more into my ham radio hobby and dig into my netflix and amazon prime movie lists that I'm saving for 'rainy days'. Will probably buy a new PC in autumn which will hopefully coincide with the village finally getting 'full' fibre (aka FTTP) so I can get my !!!!!! handed to me in first person shooters by children in America.
Financially, things are ok, we decided to grant ourselves a wage from our pension pot similar to when I was working, so far the pot is growing faster than we're spending, I expect there will be times that that won't happen, we'll see.
Finally, if I was to regret anything, it's not retiring sooner. Many of us are much nearer retirement than we think and we tend to do the one more year thing.
Cheers
