gauranteed annuity

After reading about Royal London offering its Scotish Life guaranteed annuity policy holders, a payment to give up the guarantee, I telephoned them to ask if my C I S now Royal London guaranteed policy would be included in the near future, the girl I spoke to had no idea what I was enquiring about. I'm 67 and continue to put in £44 per month the last figure it got was it was £105.000 which I'm delighted with, before reading about the Royal London intension I was thinking about taking the lump sum and leaving the remainder in there retirement account, Does anyone know if the offer to Scottish life customers will come to the C I S policy holders

  • In the absence of inside information it sounds like you should write to Royal London to get a formal response. You might also want to ask what would happen to the GAR on the residue if you took the lump sum.

FWIW I was a Royal London / Scottish Life policyholder and benefited from their recent scheme. I gauge it to have been a success for them. However, the process is not completely finalised yet. I would not be surprised to learn that RL will wait to assess how the SL scheme panned out before offering it elsewhere.
  • Thanks for the reply. I'm due the reminder telling me my retirement date is approaching, usually end of this month, when they send the details I will get into a correspondence with them. cheers
