Yeah those are fair enough reasons to have a car. I was only able to do it because I had changed jobs just before that.
I've always had old cars bought for around £600. I used to run them for about 2 years until they needed any kind of major repairs, then scrap them and get around £100 back ha. None were glamorous, but they all did the job. It was the insurance and parking that killed me (I'm German and for some reasons insurance companies think that having passed a more rigorous driving test than the British one makes me more of a liability haha).0 -
OK so lots of fabulous things been happening this last week. I've arranged tossed the lease car back and have bought a car on HP which is costing me half of what the lease car was. Have also signed up for my first 7 hours of overtime for the last week of March and am hoping to do on average 5-10 extra hours per week. Not got much planned for April so I may even be able to pick up a bit extra. For the first time in absolutely ages, I'm feeling positive about it all.
Only another 5 days until payday and I've just got enough money to see me through.12/04/2019

What a busy week I've had. Picked car up on Wednesday and despite it not having all the 'extras' my lease car has, it's going to get me from A to B at a fraction of the cost. Made arrangements today for the lease car to go back next Friday so hopefully I've made the very last payment on it. I do have for pay out £250 to return the car early so will have to bite the bullet on that. Not ideal and it's going to make the next month tough money-wise but I'm looking at the bigger picture.
Have also put myself down for 20 hours overtime from now until the end of April so that should also make a difference in my pay.12/04/2019

Not posted in a while but have been busy. My basic car is doing the job and I'm getting used to life without a turbo! Have also picked up lots of overtime shifts and should take home in excess of £500 extra in May's pay.
Only 6 days until my next pay and I'm looking forward to not having to pay for the lease car and being slammed with additional tax because of it. Not really sure whether I'll see a massive difference in April's pay or whether I'll have to wait until May for HMRC to have put my tax code right but it will be nice not to see the massive deduction on my pay slip.
Don't write understand my credit score as it appears to have gone down to 151/700. Not sure why as everything has been paid on time - so slightly confused there but will plod on with trying to get it back up.12/04/2019
