Live for today, hope for tomorrow

I totally need a new diary, full of positive thoughts and frugal actions. I have £1500 to pay off my credit card and really want to smash this within 6 months, whilst teaching myself that it is possible not to constantly buy things to fill a small hole in my life.

I'm incredibly lucky with everything I have in my life and I've worked hard to be where I am today but I do need to curb my spending and get back on track with my life. Less focus on the negative and more on the positive. I also want to cut down my screen time, read more and go out and have more fun with people I love and want to spend time with. I'm planning a no-spend month initially, with the exception of bills, petrol, food and medicine. Hopefully this will keep me accountable.

Plans for January:
:) No unnecessary spending
:) LDN marathon training
:) Keep on track with OU degree
:) Make (free!) plans with friends and family
:) Attend gym classes regularly
:) Post regularly to stay accountable

Went to start my horse lorry today and it wouldn't start :( Seems it has a flat battery. Immediately wanted to go out and purchase jump leads to jump start it and get a new battery fitted but realised I couldn't just go out shopping as I usually would, so contacted my family and one of the family members will bring jump leads over to me tomorrow. I can then work out if new battery is required and if it is, it will not be going on my credit card or out of my smalls savings pot! Will have to work out a way to make the additional funds if required.

I'm back to work tomorrow and have a builder in at the moment so have laid out tea bags, mug, spoon and biscuits etc in the kitchen for him to help himself. Will need to buy milk before I go to work but this will come out of my food budget for the month.

Will be reviewing my monthly budget spreadsheet shortly and cancel any unrequired direct debits. Know I already need to cancel Audible.
  • Argh! Tried to cancel Audible and the 'cancel' button isn't working so I've had to submit a contact form.
As part of my 'read more', I logged into my library account for the first time in 6 months apparently and had a fine to pay of £8.40(!?) before I could reserve anything else. Oh well. At least it's now paid. Must make a note to return books before their return date, or at least renew online before they expire. Onwards and upwards I guess!

Hi, just to say, librarians are authorised to waive/ adjust a fine so it's always worth asking!Especially when you don't remember incurring a fine.
Very best wishes on your d.f.journey, you're doing really well!
