Stain removal

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure I've posted this in the right section, but fingers crossed someone may be able to help me.
I have a cream carpet and knocked over a cup of coffee onto the carpet. I have tried vanish stain remover, soda water, and have diluted a dishwasher tablet and also washing detergent. None of these have worked, and in fact have made it worse as the stain has spread.
I don't really want to contact my insurance company yet as I have an excess of £250, and if they send someone out to clean it and it comes out then I'll have paid £250 for the privelge (assuming that's how it works).
The carpet runs through my living room and dining room, so will be very costly to replace.
Has anyone got any tips?
Thank you in advance.
Michelle

Time to call in the professionals perhaps if you don't want to go via your insurance, should not cost a lot. Id only be contacting the insurance if I wanted a replacement
I dropped a burning log on my carpet, had to have the hall , stairs and sitting room all replaced, was worth the £150 excess0 -
Have you tried a powered carpet cleaner like the sort you hire from supermarkets, or borrowed a Vax and it’s Fluids? (The pet owner fluid is powerful stuff, says mother of teenagers appreciatively.)
When all else fails, a strategic handsome rug can add to decor & IKEA have several nice possibles. Try & borrow a vax first though. (Or buy one on ebay & resell it later as I found out late a Scout did. She has form, mind, all her Expedition Gear was second hand, photographed both in action & after ruthless cleaning & I heard she turned a profit.)0 -

Thanks for your reply. I've no issue with going through the insurance, but take the risk that if they can remove the stain, I'll have paid £250 for it. As you say maybe need to call in the professionals0 -

I've used the rug doctor before, but not on this particular stain. I could price it up and clean my other carpets at the same time.... could be worth a go.0 -
I've no personal experience though found this on the internet:
Carpet
Blot up as much of the coffee as you can. Then, mix one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, one tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of warm water. Using a clean, white cloth, sponge the stain with the mixture. Apply a little bit at a time, blotting frequently with a dry cloth until the stain disappears. Finally, sponge with cold water and blot dry.
