Husbands pension from old job... help?!

Hoping for some idea if his options or just what might be likely...
Husband worked for same company for 20+ years until around three years ago. He left and was sent some documents from Scottish Widows, who his pension was with. He hasn’t done anything with the info they sent and has basically ignored them.
Is this a disaster? Does it mean he will have sacrificed lots of money by not responding to the options he was given?
Any help appreciated.

Not a disaster at all - and he won't have 'sacrificed lots of money'.
If he can't be bothered to read the stuff, why don't you have a look and see what choices he has? Much will depend on the type of scheme he was in and how old he is.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
It's not a disaster.
Read the paperwork.
He might wish to stay with SW or perhaps to transfer elsewhere, even into his current pension scheme.
How old is he?
Does he have any other pensions that he has forgotten/ignored?
Has he obtained a state pension statement?
Have you?

If your husband hasn't done anything then the pension will still be with Scottish Widows, and still in the funds he is invested in.
I have recently left a job and called them this week. Just give them your policy number and they will tell you your fund value, and what funds you are invested in, the costs involved etc etc.
That is his money, so it isn't going to disappear anywhere.0
