The only advice is to tell you to move on. You have no comebacks at all. Having only worked for them for 3 months and having had 6 weeks off already its understandable that they have had to employ someone else to cover while you were off in what is probably their busiest time of the year.
Even though they knew you had upcoming operations perhaps they did not expect your recovery to take as long as it did. The person who covered for you has perhaps been offered more hours because they are more reliable.0 -
Presumably you should have got Statutory Sick Pay

But since you've quit your job, what advice do you want?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
From the outside it looks like your friend offered you a job but didn't realise just how much time you would have off through sickness. They had to take somebody else on and now feel a sense of responsibility / loyalty to that new person. As said above, you have been off for roughly half the time since your employment started. I think your friend/employer has been more than fair in offering you what hours they had available when you said you were fit to return.
Entitlement to Statutory Sick Pay is dependant on how much your average earnings were in the period prior to going sick (8 week period I think), so I suspect your earnings weren't high enough to qualify.
It's a pity your friendship has suffered through this, but it seems your friend has been more successful in separating work and friendship than maybe you have been. You need to try to see the situation from their perspective too.0
