Well after a few years in the debt wilderness I have decided 2019 I am going to tackle my debts head on. So I'm going to keep this diary so I can see the progress and probably set backs along the way. At the moment my debt free date is August 2026 but I would like to make it earlier than that.

Been a crazy week so not had chance to update not been making those pads but money coming in tomorrow so going to get back on it. Realistic target for the year is to pay off my lowest lowell account and to cover all the interest on the hsbc loan.vanquis £630/£3019 Robinson way £1207.41/1682.41

Hello, good luck with your diary. And you have every right to be pleased, it is 1% you don't have to worry about and is certainly much more encouraging than for the debt to go up by 1%. I have a spreadsheet that colours in a square whenever i hit a %, not much on it yet but more than a a few months ago!Worst debt £31,746

Johnj76 that's a fab idea love the thought of being able to see the 1%s add up. Managed to pay another £35 off yesterday so good start to February also set up a payment plan with another company so I'm pleased about that.vanquis £630/£3019 Robinson way £1207.41/1682.41

well done, can't take credit for that idea though, when we saved for a house deposit i read that someone had drawn a house made of 100 squares, each one a % of their target so we did the same. Visualizing something is a great way to keep motivated, whether it be squares or seeing balances fall. As you say, it then almost becomes addictive wanting to get to the next milestone, and the 1% targets are a very manageable way to do it no matter what size the debt (or goal) but you are making it look easy so I think you need to stretch it to 2%+ this month :-)Worst debt £31,746
