Which is the best book selling site.

I am de-cluttering the 12 bookcases
in my house because we need to start making some extra cash as the zero hours job has been giving near zero hours recently. What would be the best site to sell books on? Amazon? Magpie? Ebay? or something else?
Many thanks.

Many thanks.

When I'm buying I look mostly on eBay or Amazon first, I don't know about selling, though when I've looked at the prices offered by Music Magpie for things in the past they've always only offered pennies.0

Thanks for the reply. I must admit Amazon was my first thought as we get a lot of books from there. I just wasn't sure if it really was the best option.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

I use amazon but look at the prices of the same books for sale
if you need the money quickly then put a lower price if you can wait for the money put it mid range some people prefer to support individuals not shopsEmergency fund £10,000
Several categories with savings in
Cars, house maintenance, birthdays
Etc I have about 10 categories

Just trying to open an Amazon selling account, they are asking for things like passport  Need to go on a search for it. Don't know if it is in date. Oh! and they ask for a £25 subscription fee.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

You only need a paid for subscription if you sell a large quantity, otherwise you can sell without being a pro seller but you pay extra fees. It used to be an additional 86p per item, but it's been quite a while since I last sold books on there.
On Amazon you need only high end books to break even, the fees are very high , so look for books over £5 and with a sales ranking of less than about 40,000.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The answer is the best place to sell books is where you can get the best price. I'm sure MSE has a guide on this, so one wonders why you haven't read it. It should be under boost your income.
The next answer is 99.9% of the time you'll make more money selling them yourself, than selling them to a third party who is only going to list them on Amazon or eBay anyway. However, with many books unless it's a current hit or very sought after you could wait a long time to sell them. If you list them on Amazon, there's no end date to the listing, so you're at the whim of buyers. Whereas eBay can pressure people into buying by the listing end date. However costs for posting books are high and will probably negate most or all of your profit.
You need to find another, better way to replace your zero hours contract.
See if you still have a second hand bookshop, as they may take books at a better price. If you have textbooks to sell then join a Facebook selling group for that subject, or try one of the specialist re-sellers like Fat Brain. But really, you'll be lucky to make £20 or £30 quid even with the odd good book unless they're reasonably in-date textbooks.Minimalist

Amazon market place isn't great for everyday books, I have sold a few dozen out of print books for over £100 each but most books list for months even years until selling, I price fairly high though. The next best category seems to be academic text books
My best seller to date was £115, Jimmy Reid autobiography , I bought 2 out of print copies when I heard he had died, one arrived and sold within a few days for £110 profit, the other never arrived, the seller obviously spotted what was happening. The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0 -

I think Ziffit is quite good. They also pay promptly.0

Amazon is personally the first place I always go whenever I want to buy a book!
However, I have no experience selling on Amazon, so if the fees are particularly high relative to the value of the book(s) you are selling, then it may be best to use eBay.
