deferred state pension : how is it paid

I started claiming state pension about 11 weeks after 1st eligible for it
So longer than the 9 week minimum of deferred period

On my "award notice and statement of details" letter there was no mention of the deferred period

I called them and they said it " a task would need to be started..."
A bit later I recieved an extra bank credit marked "DWP XB" for £10

But nothing more since

How do your deferred payments show up ?

Do they show up as a "DWP XB" or are they rolled up into your main payment and so included in the payment which shows up as "DWP SP"

DWP XB is just Xmas Bonus of £10, nothing to do with deferred payment.

Ooh - didn't know I'd get one of those - so it is a bonus !

Although I just checked and my wife didn't get a Xmas bonus ?

Although when I talked to them about the deferred payment I seem to recall them referring to it as "extra benefit"

So still interested to know if deferred payment is rolled up into main payment or not ?

I've only give them 2 months since they started the 'task' - so may be not long enough

Probably paid rolled into a regular SP payment and not as a separate one.
  • Both my husband and I receive a state pension. We have both received the Xmas bonus for December 2018. In both cases our state pensions were increased by £10 for one payment.

We both previously deferred payment of our state pensions. It can take up to three months for the deferment element to be paid. When it is eventually paid, you may receive a lump sum for the arrears and then your regular pension payment will be increased going forward.
