Have you ever heard of cases in which people receive a CCJ out of the blue, because an LBA has been sent to a previous address?

It has happened but that's the risk you take when, by your own admission, you're actively trying to dodge paying your debts.

CCJ's can be removed if you settle the balance within one month of the judgement, if you were to regularly check your credit files you may be able to react accordingly.

Also, praise fatbelly & Di. Seems the only factually correct information on my first post was the name.

Surely the court would be able to locate my current address & inform me of an impending CCJ.

If you can't afford to pay a debt, then waiting to see what the creditor does, knowing they only have six years to start a claim, is a legitimate strategy. I know some agencies would do token offers but this is debt-free wannabe, and £1 per month on a £1000 debt makes no sense unless there is genuinely no other option.

In your situation we do not know the details but we know it has not been acknowledged for 4.5 years and was presumably defaulted before that. Nat West used a DCA for some time but do not seem to be using one now. They have not sold the debt during the past 4.5 years.

If they wanted to locate you, they (not the court) could easily do so. The business of deliberately taking action against a debtor at an address where they know the debtor does not live, does happen, but it is usually bottom end debt buyers or parking fine companies who pull that stunt.

My suggestion would still be to not engage, but to save an 'emergency' fund, which everyone should have anyway.

In such situations, would the Court locate the debtors current address & inform them prior to the the court case?

No, it's not the court's job to trace you, they are simply the facilitator of a claim issued on behalf of the Claimant.

Is there a reason why you are not on the Electoral Roll where you live?

Can you also clarify whether your current address is shown under Linked Addresses even if it's "not at the top"? My apologies for not understanding your statement.

And finally ( :) ) is there any chance the the current occupier of that old address would send mail back marked Returned to Sender - Gone Away?

    Di

I haven’t updated the electoral roll of new address for at least 10 years (& have moved many times since).

There are 9 addresses listed under ‘Address Links’, my current address is #2 on the list. Under ‘Link Details’, my current address has the most recent ‘last confirmation’.

Unfortunately theres no chance current residents of that old address would send my mail back marked RTS
