Halogen ovens

I'm interested to know what luck people have had with Halogen ovens,I had a Daewoo that lasted about 12 -14 months and the bulb went on xmas eve,my 16 year old lad loved it as it was quick to make his food so I ordered another Daewoo to cover us over xmas and it was cheap too, this one lasted 3 weeks until the bulb went.
I've just got my refund and I'm now wondering if I should bother again, could anyone tell me if they have had a brand that they have had better luck with,I have heard of Andrew James halogens that have a replacement bulb so I suppose that may be an idea, and I might get a surge protection plug if that may help

    Hi Wilson

We have a JML halowave, it's about 4 years old and in use nearly every day. I think you can buy new replacement bulbs for it too. HTH

I bought one fron Coopers of Stortford online. I love mine and use it most days. I understand that the lids only last a year or so and mine cannot have the bulb removed as it is a sealed unit but I just order a new lid. I still keep my oven for doing large dishes or if I’m cooking several things at once but I would think long and hard if it broke if I wanted to replace it where I wouldn’t have a second thought about getting a new halogen. I also bought the extender which gives you extra height so you can put more than one thing in at once.
As you can maybe tell I am a huge fan of mine and find it very versatile

Hi we thought they were great, and only used our electric oven when cooking pizzas, loved not having to heat the oven for 20 mins to get to temperature, the old oven halogen went a month ago and the new one after about 3 weeks,so I'm going to buy a surge protector plug,I have no idea if that will help but no harm in trying

Hi what brand name is on yours? You've done well,my friend can't believe I've had such bad luck,he says he's had his for 8 years
  • We have never managed to get them to last much more than a year but don't pay more than £30 for them, and they save us a lot on electric costs because we don't have gas. They are incredibly handy for teens to do frozen pizza or oven chips and with a slow cooker and halogen oven you have economical ways of cooking a lot of meals.

Thanks it's annoying, they are good but don't last long it's a pity that they can't be more robust,my friend says his has lasted for years,he's been lucky I think
